Client: HM Government [As design consultants to RTKL London]
Project: The British High Commission
Budget: Undisclosed
Status: Completed due in 2012
We were asked to help to create a unique building that embodied the British Government and its values, a task in itself! but when you through difficult graded site terrain, and strict security constraints into the mix then thats a challenge!. As design consultants to multi-national company ‘RTKL’, we were requested to work independently to produce a concept feasibility study.
The big idea was to create a central glazed axis line taken from the union jack itself, the grass roof terraced building created a ‘friendly bunker’ environmentally sustainable approach for the embassy.
The project won a shortlisted competition in 2007, RTKL are currently progressing with the design development, and it is
due for completion in 2012.
