Client: Woking College
Project: New Entrance, External Communal Areas, Sports Pavilion and Sports Hall
Budget: Undisclosed
Status: Feasibility

We were approached by Woking College to develop a masterplan to refresh the new entrance and some of the communal external spaces, as well as a future vision for upgrading the facilities with a new pavilion and sports hall.

The big idea was to refresh the existing sixties architecture with a softer series of freestanding timber screens and bold sculptural letters, in the communal areas freestanding timber breakout pods were designed to provide secluded social and study areas for the students. At the rear of the college the ideal site was found for a sports pavilion and hall with a meadow roof providing spectator viewing points and engaging with landscape of the sports fields. Lastly a sports track was designed to clearly mark the circulation routes of the college as well as to extend out and link the woods beyond the playing fields.
