Client: Jonathon + Val
Project: Kitchen extension
Budget: 85K
Status: Completed 2011
There is old saying that ‘dogs often resemble their owners’, well this could possibly be said about houses too. We are great believers here at JaK that every project is personal, every brief varies particulary private homes because ultimately people are different. In this case Jonny and Val were keen to open up their small dark existing kitchen extension into a light modern informal space for cooking and dining as well as a place for the family to hang out.
Positioned beneath a frameless glass rooflight the centre piece of the project is a slatted hardwood feature wall that gives beautiful shadows and textures throughout the day, as well as linking the external and internal spaces.
The result was a bright, open, relaxed and warm family room, a space that we hope they don’t mind us saying is not unlike the owners!
